Volunteers Sought to Aid Crime Victims

Share

The victim services division of the Ventura County district attorney’s office is seeking volunteers to donate at least eight hours a week to provide counseling and other services to crime victims.

Volunteers, who must be willing to commit to at least five months of service, will be trained in counseling, victim compensation and the criminal justice system.

Victim services division advocates and volunteers assist victims immediately after a crime by assessing their needs, and helping to make the criminal justice system more understandable to those affected by crime.

The division is recruiting for its training program scheduled to begin Sept. 8. Bilingual volunteers are especially needed, organizers said.
