BREA : Principals, Others Given CPR Training

Share

Principals and other school administrators in the La Habra City School District received cardiopulmonary resuscitation and first-aid training Thursday by the district’s own registered nurse.

School district board members unanimously agreed last week to have the school nurse provide the training to administrators rather than continue using Red Cross employees for the job.

“This is more convenient--to have our nurse do the training when we want,” Supt. Richard Hermann said. “We wanted to get everybody prepared prior to school starting in September, and (the nurse) knows this material well.”

Another training session will take place in October for each of the district’s eight schools’ health technicians and secretaries. All employees except teachers are required to have CPR and first-aid training, school officials said. But most teachers are accredited with CPR certificates.
