SOUTH : Panel to Tackle Local Rebuilding
Eleven business owners and residents have been seated on a panel to study ways to revitalize commercial areas along Vermont and Manchester avenues that were damaged during last year’s riots.
The 11 were elected to the Community Advisory Committee last month. The group includes five representatives who are residential owners or tenants, three business owners or tenants, and three representatives from community organizations.
The committee will work with the Community Redevelopment Agency and eight community leaders to be appointed by Councilman Mark Ridley-Thomas’ office.
In April, the City Council asked the CRA to form the committees for specific neighborhoods. In upcoming months, the advisory committee will schedule public meetings to review rebuilding proposals in the Vermont-Manchester area.
