VENTURA : 150 Make a Run to Help Library
More than 150 runners dashed down Main Street in Ventura on Saturday to raise money for the Avenue Library.
The “Cowtown Mile Races,” sponsored by several downtown Ventura businesses, raised about $3,000 for a fund to keep the library open in spite of county budget cuts.
Runners at the event included mile specialist Jim Sorenson, who finished the race in 4:05.9, and 25 runners from the Special Olympics.
Saturday’s benefit brings to $70,000 the amount raised for the Avenue Library Fund this year, Tuttle said.
