MOORPARK : New Hours for Teaching Zoo
Visitors heading to Moorpark this fall for a look at lions, tigers and apes will have to adjust their schedules to meet new operating hours posted by the Moorpark College Teaching Zoo.
Visitors can now enter the park Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., with special shows scheduled every hour on the hour from noon to 4 p.m., said Gary Wilson, program director.
During previous summers, the zoo held only one show on Sundays. But this summer, the zoo was open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays, Wilson said.
“It was very successful,” Wilson said of the new policy. “It’s different from the Los Angeles Zoo and the Santa Barbara Zoo because you can actually see the animals being worked with here, people training the animals.”
