Countywide : Free Immunization for Children Offered

County health officials are encouraging parents to get their children immunized for the upcoming school year and are offering free immunizations at several locations throughout the county.

Before the new school year begins, parents of children in kindergarten through 12th grade must present proof of immunizations when they enroll students in school, said Mary Wright, spokeswoman for the Orange County Health Care Agency.

Free immunizations are now being offered in five cities--Buena Park, Santa Ana, Westminster, Costa Mesa and San Juan Capistrano.

At the agency’s Buena Park office, 7342 Orangethorpe Ave., free immunizations are offered every Thursday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. The clinic will also provide immunizations Monday and Tuesday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The agency’s Santa Ana office, 1725 W. 17th St., will provide immunizations Monday through Friday starting at 8 a.m. The office remains open until 4:30 p.m. except on Thursday, when it closes at 7 p.m.

In Westminster, parents can take their children to 6462 Industry Way, where immunizations are available every Tuesday, from 12:30 to 4 p.m.

In Costa Mesa, immunizations are available on the first and third Wednesday of each month at 2845 Mesa Verde Drive East. Clinic hours are 1 to 4 p.m.

In San Juan Capistrano, immunizations are offered every Thursday from 1 to 4 p.m. at 27512 Calle Arroyo.

Children must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. Parents should bring their child’s immunization record to the clinic, Wright said. No appointment is necessary.
