BASEBALL DAILY REPORT : ANGELS : Easley Has Surgery on Right Leg

Share

Angel second baseman Damion Easley underwent surgery Tuesday for the medial tibial stress syndrome of his lower right leg, releasing muscle tissue that covers the shin bone. Dr. Lewis Yocum said that Easley likely won’t be able to start jogging again for six to eight weeks. Although he also has pressure in his left leg, surgery was not necessitated simply because Easley still has no pain.

Angel starter Russ Springer, who has three degenerative discs in his back, could also be facing surgery if X-rays reveal in a week that his back has not improved. . . . Angel shortstop Gary DiSarcina’s left hand still was swollen and cut from being hit with a pitch in Sunday’s game against the Milwaukee Brewers, but continued his consecutive game streak by playing Tuesday.
