Sweet & Sober

Mitsukan USA, owned by Nakano Vinegar Co. of Handa, Japan, has found a way to take the alcohol out of mirin, the sweet rice wine used in teriyaki sauce and many other dishes. Honteri, the non-alcoholic version, appeared in Japan in 1979 and has just been introduced to California supermarkets.
