Westside : New Student Registration
New students, including kindergartners, in the Los Angeles Unified School District should preregister between now and the start of the fall semester, Sept. 7. Parents are asked to call the office of their local school for a schedule and determination of the most appropriate track. General information: (213) 625-KIDS.
Parents of new students must provide proof of residence address, school records or at least a transfer form or report card from the child’s previous district, and health and immunization records showing they have been vaccinated against polio, mumps, rubeola, rubella, diphtheria, tetanus and whooping cough and have taken a recent Mantoux test for tuberculosis. Those entering pre-kindergarten programs must also be immunized against Haemophilus influenza, type B.
Parents of new kindergartners also should bring proof of their child’s birth date.
Under state law, kindergartners must be at least 5 years old on or before Dec. 2.
