Balanchine Works on NYC Ballet Program in Orange County
COSTA MESA — New York City Ballet will dance nine Balanchine ballets during its October engagement at the Orange County Performing Arts Center here.
The New York company’s exclusive Southland engagement at the center Oct. 14-24 will also include Peter Martins’ previously announced controversial production of “The Sleeping Beauty” (to music of Tchaikovsky). .
The Balanchine programs:
* Oct. 22, 8 p.m.: “Serenade” (Tchaikovsky); “Agon” (Stravinsky); “Who Cares?” (Gershwin).
* Oct. 23, 2 p.m.: “Bourree Fantasque” (Chabrier); “Sylvia” pas de deux (Delibes); “Symphony in Three Movements” (Stravinsky); “Symphony in C” (Bizet).
* Oct. 23, 8 p.m.: “Swan Lake” Act II (Tchaikovsky); “Agon”; “Symphony in C.”
* Oct. 24, 2 p.m.: “Swan Lake” Act II; “Tchaikovsky Pas de Deux”; “Bourree Fantasque”; “Who Cares?”
* Oct. 24, 7:30 p.m.: “Serenade”; “Symphony in Three Movements”; “Who Cares?”
