Rappers-actors Ice Cube and Ice-T are both at work on film projects. Cube is co-starring as an accused murderer in “The Glass Shield,” which co-stars Lori Petty and is planned for a premiere at Cannes next year. Ice-T is playing a homeless man hunted by Rutger Hauer in “Surviving the Game,” filming now in Seattle. . . .

Tony Toni Tone has been offered the opening slot on Janet Jackson’s U.S. tour, which starts in October and is expected to reach L.A. in November. . . .

Former Germs guitarist Pat Smear is expected to be on board Nirvana’s upcoming tour as a second guitarist. The group will also be bringing along a cello player for several songs. . . .

Though the real Morrissey showed up the last time there was a prominent Morrissey look-alike contest in Los Angeles, don’t expect him at the one being held at Book Soup on Sept. 12. It’s a promotion for the book “Morrissey and Marr: The Severed Alliance,” which details his break-up with former Smiths bandmate Johnny Marr and which the singer has reportedly lashed out against. . . .

The cast of “Beverly Hills, 90210” has been invited to the record release party for the “Hating Brenda” album on Friday at Roxbury, the site of some of Shannen (Brenda) Doherty’s, um, greatest hits. No word on whether any will actually show up, but Rump, the group behind the project, pointedly thanks cast members Jenny Garth and Luke Perry in the album credits. . . .

Concrete Blonde’s first album for Capitol Records, due Oct. 19, features drumming from both original member Harry Rushakoff and former Roxy Music member Paul Thompson, who replaced Rushakoff for one album and tour a few years ago.
