Exports to Mainland China Up 22.7% in June: Taiwan’s exports to mainland China through Hong Kong rose 22.7% to $669.6 million in June on strong demand for industrial materials, the Board of Foreign Trade said. Hong Kong is the main conduit for trade between Taiwan and mainland China because of a ban on direct trade by Taipei. Taiwan’s imports from the mainland through Hong Kong in June fell 10.1% to $83.2 million, the board said, citing Hong Kong customs statistics. Two-way trade in June rose 17.9% on the year to $752.8 million.
