City of Pasadena Plans Art Residency Program

Share

The Pasadena City Council, which two months ago threatened to take away the city’s funding for arts grants, has established an artist-in-residency program that will house four artists over a two-year period at the Civic Center West Project.

Using funding from the 1% Public Art in Downtown Redevelopment Projects program, artists will each get a 1,100-by-1,800-square-foot live/work space in exchange for producing two annual on-site exhibitions and/or performances and six master classes or lectures for youth or seniors in schools, community centers or child-care facilities.

Artists will be chosen by lottery during a Pasadena City Council meeting.
