Bigger Than Super

Ft. Worth-based Tandy Corp. is hot on Southern California--to a certain degree.
One of Tandy’s new Radio Shack Super Stores opened in Santa Ana late last month near South Coast Plaza. The region is also home to several Computer City stores. But Orange County isn’t yet home to the biggest of the new stores being introduced by Tandy.
The Super Store incorporates 4,000 square feet while Computer City locations run about 30,000 square feet. But those are tiny compared to Tandy’s The Incredible Universe, the 180,000-square-foot “giga-stores” opening at various locations around the country. The Incredible Universe stores stock just about anything that is powered by electricity.
