Strike by American Attendants Looms: The union for American Airlines flight attendants said it may not be able to meet a Labor Day target for hammering out a new contract. Talks between the union and management will continue through the holiday weekend in Jacksonville, Fla. The Assn. of Professional Flight Attendants said it is drawing up a proposal after the airline presented and distributed to staff its own broad proposal. Talks between the two groups resumed last week after a mandated six-day recess.
