Willow Run Plant Can Close: The Michigan Supreme Court cleared the way for General Motors Corp. to close the assembly plant, which once employed 4,500 people, and move the operation to Texas. The court refused to hear an appeal by Ypsilanti Township, which asked that the closing be blocked. The order lets stand a Michigan Court of Appeals decision rejecting the township’s claim that GM promised to keep the factory open forever when it took $13.5 million in tax abatements.
