* * * Various artists, “Peace Together,” Island. “Be Still,” a pop lullaby for the children of Northern Ireland featuring Sinead O’Connor, Peter Gabriel and others, was a big English hit, and the live collaboration of U2 and Lou Reed on Reed’s “Satellite of Love” is a big draw on this strong benefit collection. But Pop Will Eat Itself (doing Gabriel’s “Games Without Frontiers”), Carter the Unstoppable Sex Machine (Elvis Costello’s “Peace in Our Time”) and Fatima Mansions (Sandy Denny’s “John the Gun”) are the top treasures.
New albums are rated on a scale of one star (poor), two stars (fair), three stars (good) and four stars (excellent).
