Every country has its own peculiar set of exchange problems, but at the moment, the best way to get your holiday money to Thailand is to take large-denomination traveler’s checks and cash them there at the airport or at the numerous excellent banks and official exchange kiosks throughout the country. They all use an exchange rate that, with the standard charge of eight baht per check, still leaves you with well over 2,500 baht for your $100. Those who follow the standard advice and support the money changers that use the exchange rate printed in the Travel section, get about 2,200 baht.
