IRVINE : Future of Irvine Co. Land to Be Discussed

Share

City and Irvine Co. officials will hold a meeting tonight designed to answer questions about future plans for 1,200 acres of mostly undeveloped land in the center of the city.

The land, known as Planning Area 12, is bounded by the San Diego and Santa Ana freeways and Jeffrey Road and Sand Canyon Avenue. It is north of the Irvine Spectrum industrial area and south of the Woodbridge residential village.

The Irvine Co. owns the land but has not yet proposed any specific developments there.

The company has discussed the possibility of building golf courses, as many as 4,050 houses, industrial parks, an elementary school and a shopping center in the area, which is already home to Irvine Valley College and the city’s corporation yard.
