CARSON : Youth Dies of Wounds From Drive-By Shooting

Share

An 11-year-old Carson boy who was hit by a stray bullet in a drive-by shooting has died, authorities said Friday.

Francisco (Frankie) Romero, who investigators said was an innocent bystander, died at 8:15 p.m. Thursday after family members asked doctors to take him off life-support systems.

Frankie, an avid Little League player who had just started the seventh grade, was shot Wednesday night as he stood outside his family’s home with his 22-year-old stepbrother and other young men. Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department investigators said the bullet was not directed at Frankie, but they said they are not certain if others in the group were the targets. No arrests have been made.
