PRO FOOTBALL / DAILY REPORT : RAMS : Conlan, Henley Now Questionable

Coach Chuck Knox said after Friday’s practice that the team has downgraded linebacker Shane Conlan (groin) and cornerback Darryl Henley (shoulder) from probable to questionable for Sunday’s game against Pittsburgh.

Conlan ran briefly for the team’s training staff Friday, but he did not practice throughout the week. If Conlan can’t play, Tom Homco will make his first NFL start at middle linebacker.

Henley reported more soreness in his shoulder Friday, and Steve Israel is expected to start in his place at right cornerback.

The Rams spent the past week working Jerome Bettis into their attack, but Cleveland Gary remains the team’s starting running back.

“I think Jerome has had two good weeks of work and we have packaged things that are going to be good for him,” said Chick Harris, Ram running backs coach.

The Rams have sold a little more than 38,000 season tickets this year after selling 39,300 in 1992.

“Our regular season-ticket customers have remained pretty constant in recent years after selling closer to 50,000 following the 1989 season,” said Deborah Campise, Ram ticket manager.
