Pasadena : Trial Set for Ex-Security Chief
Alhambra Municipal Judge John Martinez last week set an Oct. 12 trial date for a fired Pasadena schools security chief charged with a misdemeanor count of filing a false police report in connection with a missing computer.
Authorities allege that Charles Parcell, director of security services for the Pasadena Unified School District, filed a false police report last September declaring that a school district computer he had moved to the security office at district headquarters had been stolen.
Parcell has entered a not guilty plea. His attorney, who said Parcell is being prosecuted because school, city and police officials dislike his conservative views, has asked that the charge be dismissed.
Last week, Pasadena Municipal Judge Judson Morris Jr. ordered the case to be heard in Alhambra because he and other judges had worked too closely with city officials whom the defense plans to call to testify.
The Pasadena school board fired Parcell in March. Parcell appealed the decision to an administrative court judge. The administrative hearing on the firing is set to resume Oct. 6 in Los Angeles.
