Computer Firms Form Consortium: Apple Computer Inc. said it and other industry leaders have joined forces to develop software standards that would allow consumers to mix and match portions of computer programs. The other members of the group are International Business Machines Corp., Novell Inc., Oracle Systems Corp., Taligent and Wordperfect Corp. Taligent is a venture created by Apple and IBM to develop a new-generation personal computer operating system. The consortium, Component Integration Laboratories, will provide training to software developers to meet the new specifications.
