Mediators asked Bosnia-Herzegovina’s three warring sides to meet in Sarajevo next week to sign a peace settlement after the country’s Muslims and Serbs signed a cease-fire in Geneva. “We have made progress,” European Community mediator Lord Owen said. However, Bosnia’s Muslim President Alija Izetbegovic said he doubted that differences among the three factions could be resolved by next week. In central Bosnia, Muslim-Croat fighting intensified after the massacre of Croat villagers by Muslim-led government forces. The United Nations condemned the slayings.
