Dorothy B. Burr; Schoolteacher

Dorothy B. Burr, a teacher and wife of the former headmaster at Ojai Valley School, has died at the age of 87.
She died in Rossmoor, Calif., on Aug. 21.
Mrs. Burr worked at the Ojai private school while her husband, Wallace Burr, was headmaster from 1942-1972.
She taught English and managed the kitchen and dining facilities for 20 years.
Mrs. Burr will be remembered for her wit and love of the arts, in addition to her enthusiasm for the school’s camping program, said Michael D. Hermes, the school’s president.
Mrs. Burr was born in Grettinger, Iowa, and reared in Washington state.
She was graduated from the University of Washington with a degree in sociology and from Santa Barbara State College with a degree in elementary education.
She is survived by her husband of 65 years, two sons, eight grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Private family services were held.
