Canadian Auto Workers Approve Chrysler Contract: About 80% of the Canadian union’s members voted to approve the new three-year contract with Chrysler Canada Ltd. The settlement, which includes higher wages, improved pension benefits and more paid vacation time, was reached before last week’s strike deadline. Chrysler Canada is the first of the Big Three auto makers’ Canadian arms to agree on a new labor contract. Union officials were expected to announce today whether Ford Canada or GM Canada will be their next negotiating target. Production workers voted 82.4% for the settlement, skilled-trade workers voted 53.1%, and office staff voted 80%. About 60% of the union’s approximately 10,500 members cast ballots.
