Peter Mark Schifter; Theater, Opera Director

Peter Mark Schifter, 44, a theater director whose many credits include the premiere of Christopher Durang’s “History of the American Film” at the Mark Taper Forum in Los Angeles. Off-Broadway, he directed “The Time of Your Life,” and for the Guthrie Theater in Minneapolis he directed “Boy Meets Girl.” He made his professional debut as an opera director in Pennsylvania. He directed the premiere of Leonard Bernstein’s “A Quiet Place” in Houston and the first major revival of “Jonny Spielt Auf” in Long Beach. In New York City on Sept. 10 of the complications of AIDS.
