LOS ANGELES : New Parking Rules Waived for Rebuilding Projects

Share

The owners of buildings destroyed in the 1992 riots will be allowed to rebuild with fewer parking spaces than required in the current zoning code under an ordinance approved Wednesday by the Los Angeles City Council.

The law permits owners to rebuild with essentially the number of parking spaces that existed on their properties before the riots. It also allows more of the smaller spaces designated for compact cars.

City officials said they hope to encourage more owners to rebuild by waiving new, more rigorous parking requirements.
