Three firefighters were injured Wednesday putting out a blaze at a martial arts school in Little Saigon, officials said. Three civilians were also hurt.
The three-alarm fire was reported about 4:30 p.m. at 9265 Bishop Place, about 300 yards from a fire station, Battalion Chief Allan White said.
The injured firefighters were taken to Huntington Beach Medical Center to be treated for back pains and heat exhaustion, he said. Three civilians also had minor burns and heat exposure but refused treatment.
The school, Viet Nam Vo Dao, was in a two-story commercial complex, but none of the other units in the building were damaged. People were inside when the fire started and ran out to call for help. Flames roared through the roof, damaged half of the school and all the contents inside, White said.
Cause of the fire was under investigation, he said.
