Candidate Will Speak on Salvador
Ruben Zamora, a leading presidential candidate in El Salvador, is scheduled to speak at 6 p.m. Sunday at the Blessed Sacrament Church, 6657 Sunset Blvd, Hollywood.
Zamora, the candidate of the left-of-center Democratic Convergence, will speak about conditions in postwar El Salvador and the national elections scheduled for next March. The elections follow 12 years of civil war between a succession of right-wing governments and leftist guerrillas. The fighting formally ended in December, 1992.
The talk is sponsored by a coalition that includes the Central American Refugee Center, Committee for Development and Democracy in El Salvador and the Southern California Ecumenical Interfaith Task Force in Central America.
A donation of $10 for general admission and $5 for low-income residents is requested.
