SPECIAL TO THE TIMES

Servite ended one streak but couldn’t end another in their 19-6 loss to Carson Friday night at Cal State Fullerton.

Peter Thompson’s 33-yard touchdown run with 2:35 left in the fourth quarter was the first score for the Friars this season, which they’ve started 0-3.

The swarming Friar defense held Carson to minus three yards rushing but gave up 340 yards through the air, including two touchdown passes of more than 60 yards.

Carson quarterback Ramon Rogers passed for 326 yards and three touchdowns.

Thompson led the Friars’ ground game with 56 yards on 11 carries, and David Bedard had 47 yards on 13 carries, but quarterback Dan Blaine couldn’t get on track. He completed only three of 11 passes for 25 yards, with one interception.

Carson struck first late in the first quarter on a 65-yard pass play from Rogers to Kendrik Wallace.

Servite’s defense contained the Colts until late in the third quarter, when Rogers hooked up with Tony Harvey for a 72-yard catch and run. Rogers hit John Houston early in the fourth quarter to extend the Colts’ lead to 19-0.

It looked as though Servite’s scoreless streak would remain intact, when, less than three minutes left, Thompson broke free around the right side to score.
