Killing Cougar: Protecting Humans?

* Every time a mountain lion is shot, I must remind myself we are the almighty human being just exercising our arrogant, destructive dominion over nature. (“Rangers Kill Cougar,” Sept. 9).

We build homes in their former territory, run major freeways across their corridors, run over them with our cars, encroach upon their wild lands, and finally track them down and shoot them when they display “abnormal behavior.”

By all means, make those campgrounds safe.
