GM, Ford Announce Recalls: General Motors Corp. and Ford Motor Co. said the actions involve almost 1.6 million light trucks and vans from the 1988 through 1994 model years to fix three defects in the braking and fuel systems of the vehicles. The largest came from Ford, which recalled about 1.2 million 1990-93 F-series pickups with gasoline engines and dual fuel tanks, to replace a fuel pressure regulator. GM announced two recalls: The larger one involves about 300,000 1988-92 full-size four-wheel-drive pickups and vans, to replace the front brake rotors with corrosion-resistant units; the second involves about 76,000 Chevrolet and GMC full-size pickups and vans from the 1994 model year, to inspect the brake pedal rod retainers.
