United Flight Attendants Quit Buyout Bid: An effort by United Airlines employees to take a controlling interest in the company was thrown into doubt when the Assn. of Flight Attendants pulled out of negotiations after United decided to establish home bases for attendants in the Far East. This “will eventually lead to the loss of thousands of jobs,” the union said in a statement. What this means for the negotiations, which envision swapping more than $3 billion in wage and benefit concessions for a majority stake in the parent UAL Corp., remained uncertain.
