New Canon Printers: Canon Computer Systems Inc. said it plans to unveil two lines of office printers on Monday in its latest effort to challenge market leader Hewlett Packard Co.

Canon Computer Systems, the Costa Mesa-based subsidiary of the Japanese electronics giant, generated $300 million in sales of printers and personal computers since being established a year ago, said Peter Bergman, vice president of marketing.

He dubbed the company’s LBP-430 laser printer a “green” printer designed for small offices and home computer users. The printer is energy-efficient, using less power when it’s not being used. The model’s suggested retail price is $799.

Canon will also unveil a color version of its “bubble jet” technology printers, the BJC-600. Canon’s patented bubble jet technology uses heat to form droplets of ink that can be precisely set down on paper.

Such ink jet printers are the fastest growing part of the printer market, according to BIS Strategic Decisions, a consulting firm in Norwell, Mass.

Earlier this year, Canon announced that it would build a warehouse in Memphis, Tenn.
