Religion Pages Seen as Negative, Unbalanced

Share

I strongly urge The Times to discontinue its Religion pages. Instead of balanced reporting on religious life in the Southland, you are using the page as a platform to bash organized religion.

In your Sept. 25 edition, for example, you featured prominent coverage of a gay-lesbian panel discussion assailing Christian fundamentalists, feminist lecturer Mary Hunt’s presentation on how Christianity has fostered violence against women, and the conference of Americans United for Separation of Church and State, a group whose goal has long been to purge religion from all aspects of public culture.

Now, these stories may all have legitimate news value, but should they dominate a page (that) ought to give at least a balanced view? If you cannot say anything good about religion, why have a religion page at all?
