Stampeding Elephants Destroy 11 Villages

YAOUNDE, Cameroon —
A herd of more than 300 marauding elephants destroyed 11 villages in northern Cameroon, leaving dozens of people homeless, state radio said Thursday. Such stampedes are common. Four people were killed by rampaging elephants in a neighboring district earlier in September.
