3DO Co. to Participate in US West Interactive Trial: The company has been selected to provide interactive technology for US West Inc.’s planned test of a communications network that will let consumers shop, play games and view movies on demand via their televisions. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. Involvement in one of the dozens of interactive television trials scheduled to roll out in the coming months is considered a gauge of which firms will emerge as leaders in the age of digital communications. The US West experiment, to take place in Omaha next year, is awaiting approval by the FCC. Redwood City, Calif.-based 3DO is backed by Time Warner, Matsushita and AT&T.;
