SAN PEDRO : Threat Charges Dropped in Svorinich Case
Terrorist threat charges have been dropped against a San Pedro man accused of threatening Los Angeles Councilman Rudy Svorinich Jr. and his father this year, officials said Monday.
The city attorney’s office in June charged Nikola Udenija with shouting threats and obscenities in Croatian against the Svoriniches days before the younger Svorinich faced then-Councilwoman Joan Milke Flores at the polls. Udenija, an unemployed laborer, called the charges politically motivated.
The threat charges later were dropped as part of an plea bargain in which Udenija pleaded guilty to spousal abuse stemming from another incident, officials said. Udenija, who has a history of alcohol-related arrests, agreed to stay away from the homes and businesses of the Svoriniches.
