PRO FOOTBALL / DAILY REPORT : RAMS : Roster Exemption OK for Henley

The NFL commissioners’ office on Thursday granted the Rams a roster exemption for cornerback Darryl Henley, who left the team Monday because of a federal investigation into his alleged cocaine distribution.

John Shaw, the Rams’ executive vice president, said Henley’s exemption was indefinite.

“It is our understanding that he (Henley) would have to petition the league office if he would try to come back,” Shaw said.

Cornerback Waymon Henderson, an eight-year pro who started 11 games last season for Denver, worked out for the Rams Thursday and is expected to be added to their 53-player roster today.

Henderson was one of four cornerbacks who worked out. The others were Lemuel Stinson, Mitchell Price and Sammy Walker.
