17,000 Notebook Computers Recalled: Dell Computer Corp. is recalling the 320SLi and 325SLi computers because of a faulty part that can make the machines overheat. The recall of the Austin, Tex., firm’s computers comes just a few months after Dell announced it was suspending its notebook business because it wasn’t up to standards. A Dell spokesman said the repairs required for the recalled computers, which will cost the company as much as $2 million, will be made at no charge to consumers. The recall was announced after three machines were returned with faulty capacitors on the motherboard of both models, which could create a fire hazard should a crack occur. The company hopes to resume its notebook business next year, the spokesman said.
