30 Officers Hurt in Police Bus Blast
A remote-controlled bomb exploded alongside a police bus in downtown Bogota on Thursday night, wounding as many as 30 policemen, witnesses said.
No one immediately claimed responsibility for the attack. Leftist rebels and drug traffickers have perpetrated such acts in the past.
Witnesses speaking on local radio said windows were shattered within a two-block radius of the blast. Several buildings suffered structural damage, they said. The sound of the blast was heard for miles.
The bus was virtually destroyed, and the roughly 30 policemen on board were believed injured, a police official interviewed on the RCN radio network said.
