Hernandez Faces No. 1 Contender
Sickness and scheduling have increased the duties for World Boxing Assn. junior-lightweight champion Genaro Hernandez tonight at the Forum.
Because the fight was delayed two weeks while Hernandez (28-0-1, 14 knockouts) recovered from flu, he makes his sixth title defense, against No. 1 contender Harold Warren (25-5, 12 KOs), with added pressure.
“It’s my (wedding) anniversary,” Hernandez said. “ “If I don’t win, (Liliana, his wife) will probably divorce me.”
Also on the card: former-World Boxing Organization junior-welterweight champion Carlos (Bolillo) Gonzalez (37-1) against Luis Maysonet (18-3).
