Reno, Guinier to Meet at Penn Dedication
Atty. Gen. Janet Reno and University of Pennsylvania law professor C. Lani Guinier are to meet publicly Friday for the first time since Guinier’s controversial Justice Department nomination was withdrawn.
A university spokesman said Guinier will introduce Reno as the featured speaker at a dedication ceremony for a law school library.
President Clinton in June withdrew his nomination of Guinier as assistant attorney general for civil rights, citing disagreement with her writings on political representation of minorities. The action triggered protests from civil rights leaders.
