A man who authorities believe was trying to scare a former girlfriend walked into the delivery service office where she works on Thursday and started shooting, police said.

No one was injured. The gunman, a former employee of the company, fled and was still being sought by authorities late Thursday.

About 4:35, the man walked into News-Express, 16300 Stagg St., seeking the woman he had dated until about three weeks ago, Sgt. Doug Laird said.

The man, who police declined to identify, began yelling at the woman, then pulled out a .357 Magnum and fired two shots into the floor and a third into the ceiling as he fled, Laird said.

“It looks like his main intent was to intimidate this woman,” Laird said.

The News-Express is a delivery service affiliated with the Daily News that distributes printed matter, but not the newspaper, a Daily News spokesman said Thursday.
