* “SNAP! Serious New Art Photographers” is an exhibit by faculty, students, visiting artists and dozens of young photographers from the Los Angeles Photography Program for Youth. It is open from 9 a.m. to 5 a.m. through Sunday in galleries D-300 and D-301. Admission is free.

* “Eight Faces” features the artwork of six Latino students who seek to explode the expectations regarding culturally based art. This exhibit and accompanying discussions, scheduled on and around El Dia de los Muertos , the traditional Mexican holiday, will run from Nov. 1-6 in the Main Gallery and Langley Hall. Admission is free.

DANCE

* Graduate students present their thesis works in evening concerts scheduled for Nov. 18-20. Among the featured choreographers and dancers will be Sabina Lee, a 27-year-old native of South Korea whose work explores her experience “as an Asian woman in America, dealing with discrimination and stereotypes.” These performances begin each night at 8 p.m. in the Theatre II. Admission is free.

* The Dance Ensemble, a combination of faculty and visiting artists, will perform at 8 p.m. Dec. 9-11 in the Modular Theatre. Admission is $8, $3 for students and seniors.

FILM-VIDEO

* Takahiko Iimura, a Japanese conceptual filmmaker, will present his award-winning work in the Bijou Theatre on campus. Iimura has previously been shown at the Museum of Modern Art and the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York, and at the Centre Georges Pompidou in Paris. The screening is scheduled for 7 p.m. Oct. 23. Admission is free.

MUSIC

* The jazz ensemble, a combination of music students and faculty, performs noon concerts every Wednesday and Friday in the L-shaped Gallery. Admission is free.

* “Percussion Ensemble Concert” features students and faculty performing notated and improvised music. This event is scheduled for 8 p.m. Nov. 29 in the Roy O. Disney Music Hall. Admission is free.

THEATER

* “Modigliani” is a play by Dennis McIntyre about the Italian painter Amedeo Modigliani and, says director Michael Jung, “it deals with the process of creating art, who defines art and what is art.” This student production begins at 8 p.m. Oct. 21-23 and 28-30 in the Ensemble Theatre II. Admission is $7 general, $2 for students and senior citizens.

* Faculty members Irene Connors and A.C. Weary direct a production of William Butler Yeats’ “The Herne’s Egg.” This drama deals with a spiritual battle and there’s plenty of sword fighting, too. The play begins at 8 p.m. Nov. 11-13 in the Modular Theatre. Admission is $7, $2 for students and senior citizens.
