Make Our Schools Safe for Kids

Share

“Everyone Should Be Scared” (Sept. 26) brought tears to my eyes. I feel so bad for the children who are afraid to go to school.

If parents and/or the school board knew there was going to be a bomb on campus the next school day, the school would be shut down. Parents would never dream of sending their kids to school with the threat of a bomb. Tell me--what is the difference between a bomb scare and one or two (or many?) kids walking around campus with guns?

If I had a child in a school where random bomb (gun) checks were being made to ensure “safety,” I wouldn’t wait for Prop. 174 to pass in November. I’d pull my kid out and keep him out until the “bomb threat” was over.

Gee, what would happen if all parents did that?! Would the public school system spend millions advertising their safety record on TV or would they spend those millions fixing the problem?
