Capitol Records Names Ralph Simon to New No. 2 Post

Ralph Simon has been named to the newly created position of executive vice president at Capitol Records. Simon will be the No. 2 man in the organization, overseeing all executive and operational functions.

John Matoian, senior vice president of motion pictures for TV and miniseries at CBS, is reportedly in discussions with Fox to join the film studio in a newly created unit that would focus on producing family films. CBS executives are “doing everything in their power” to persuade Matoian to stay, according to one insider, but the former high school teacher-turned-TV executive is said to be seriously weighing the offer.

Lucas Digital Ltd. has consolidated its Santa Monica and Marin County Skywalker Sound facilities into a single operation and promoted Katherine Morris to vice president and general manager.
