Oxnard police are asking the public to help them find two men who raped an 18-year-old developmentally disabled woman near her Oxnard home.

The woman was out searching for the family dog when she was attacked early last month, Oxnard police said.

“We would like to get somebody in custody,” said Oxnard Detective Ken Kent. “We’re appealing to the public so hopefully we can do that.”

Kent said the woman, who police described as emotionally and mentally childlike, indicated to her mother that she had been sexually assaulted when she was returning to her home in the 1800 block of Ives Avenue after looking for the dog. Her clothes were wrinkled and dirty and her hair was disheveled.

A medical exam confirmed that she had been raped.

Kent said the woman told her mother that two men attacked her inside a house. But she could not provide police with a clear description of the suspects.

Anyone with information about the case should call Oxnard police at 385-7603.
