CALABASAS : School Candidate Will Quit, Leaving 8
Robert Oserin, a candidate for the Las Virgenes Unified School District Board of Education, has unofficially dropped out of the race, leaving eight hopefuls for three positions on the panel.
Although his name will appear on the Nov. 2 ballot, Oserin, a 65-year-old retired insurance executive, said he is discouraging voters from choosing him.
“The reason I entered the race was that the last time around there was no competition for the incumbents,” Oserin said, referring to the 1991 election when two candidates ran for two seats. “This year, there are several parents running for school board and I feel my candidacy would take away from their chances.”
The remaining candidates are: incumbents Judy Jordan and Barbara Bowman-Fagelson, bank officer Joanna Lofaso, public accountant Adrian B. Stern attorney Gary Rafferty, clinical psychologist Kim B. Barrus, attorney Robert Mark Freedman and teacher Charlotte Meyer.
